Gafsele Lappland Hostel is situated in the village Gafsele. It is located on the banks of the river Ångermanälven and on the edge of endless forests. The river is excellent for water activities including swimming, boating and fishing. The forests offer posibilities like hunting, hiking, driving a snowmobile or sleddogs and skiing in winter. If you are lucky you get treated to a spectacular display of the Northern Lights. Talking about skies... you will find the clearest blue skies in the South of Lapland and when snow is in the air more then a hundred shades of grey.

The character of the fifties school building and many school materials have been preserved, which makes a stay at our place into a special one. In 1842 the school started and closed in 2003. A permanent exhibition about the former missionary school tells more about its history. And we gladly add to that with stories from former pupils.

Not only the schoolbuilding was preserved, but also the school canteen. We serve breakfast and dinner there and organize parties and events. More historical buildings are close by, like the old sawmill around the corner.
